Lakeside plans for the next generation of vehicles and smart infrastructure, called personal rapid transit, to reconnect the South Chicago community to the lake and link Lakeside to the region. The implementation of fully integrated intelligent transit systems will provide convenient options for mobility, and owning a car will no longer be a necessity. Smart transit systems will improve access to airports and downtown, aiming to reduce transit travel times by half. In addition to an expanded and improved network of bikes, CTA buses, and Metra rail and train services, Lakeside plans to introduce a water transit network.
