Lakeside will be the most connected and transit-oriented location in North America. The extension of Lake Shore Drive, the Southside block patterns and other existing city streets will provide improved access to Lakeside, reconnecting the site with the Southside community and Chicago at large. Expanded CTA bus service, improved Metra train service and a new light rail tram train service will increase transit capacity and convenience for the Southside. Lakeside will also integrate narrow, tree-shaded streets, small blocks and new bike lanes, rendering the entire neighborhood walkable and bikeable. With convenient options for mobility, big-city amenities including transit, shops, parks and schools will be a five-minute walk away.
