The Chicago Lakeside Development presented the Northwestern University student-led team, MeterGenius, with the inaugural Lakeside Award. Presented at the 4th annual Clean Energy Challenge on April 3rd, the award is targeted towards solutions that complement the Chicago Lakeside vision for clean, sustainable sources of energy, water and waste. The award comes in the form of a $25,000 grant to be used by MeterGenius to enable further research, application and execution of their go-to-market strategy.

MeterGenius is a free consumer website that gives homeowners with smart meters tools and incentives to manage their electric use. Using an innovative software platform, MeterGenius allows residential consumers to view their electricity consumption data, set an energy budget, and earn rewards for saving energy. MeterGenius offers a solution that can integrate within Lakeside and provide residents with actionable information that can influence behavior to promote more sustainable and economical energy consumption.
